Naval and air bombardment preceded the landing, and heavy fighting continued in the hills while the unloading took place in the rear areas. The 158th Infantry invaded the Bicol Peninsula in southern Luzon. The Regiment hit the Legaspi Port in a magnificent assault with naval landing craft.
